Emilio Sánchez Escámez, CEO of IDEA TSG, has been awarded the Industrial Engineer of the Year Award.
The Official College of Industrial Engineers of the Region of Murcia (COIIRM) is celebrating the second edition of the ESG-INDUSTRY Awards, reaffirming its commitment to recognizing best practices in sustainability within the industrial sector. These awards highlight the most outstanding initiatives and careers in the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, promoting innovation and sustainable development. The event, which brought together prominent figures from the industrial and business sectors, was closed by the President of the Regional Government, Fernando López Miras.
A recognition of leadership and ESG excellence
The ESG-INDUSTRY Awards aim to recognize the work of companies and professionals who have demonstrated a positive impact on energy efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, improvement in the quality of life for workers and the community, as well as the implementation of good governance and transparency practices. With this initiative, COIIRM seeks to foster a responsible and sustainable industrial ecosystem, celebrating those who lead the way toward an industry aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Industrial Engineer of the Year Award
Emilio Sánchez Escámez, CEO and founder of IDEA TSG, was recognized with the Industrial Engineer of the Year Award, one of the honors of the gala. This recognition highlights his leadership in promoting ESG values within the industry, as well as his contribution to the digital and sustainable transformation of the sector.
From the very beginning, he had the vision to revolutionize engineering through digitalization, a project that started in his home dining room 16 years ago. Today, IDEA TSG has over 300 employees and has established itself as a leader in technology and innovation. Throughout his career, he has emphasized the importance of collective effort, recognizing the fundamental role of his team, his family, and especially his mother, whose support and teachings have been key to his journey towards success.

At IDEA TSG, sustainability is a fundamental pillar that goes beyond regulatory requirements. Although we are not currently obligated to produce an ESG Report, we have chosen to do so voluntarily with the ESG 2023 Report, reflecting our strong commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. This initiative reinforces our belief that integrating these values into the company’s DNA is key to building a more responsible and sustainable industrial future.
A career of innovation and leadership in engineering
Emilio has built a career marked by academic excellence and innovation in engineering. Graduating with honors in Industrial Technical Engineering and with a distinguished trajectory at UPCT, where his final project was awarded as the best of 2002, he combined his education with teaching at the ETSIA in Cartagena.
In 2008, during the economic crisis, he founded IDEA TSG with the vision of revolutionizing engineering through BIM technology and Industry 4.0. His commitment to sustainability led him to create IDEA GREEN during the pandemic, driving solutions in renewable energy and decarbonization. Additionally, he has led environmental initiatives, promoting sustainability both within and outside the company.
His leadership skills and commitment to innovation have earned him recognitions such as the European Medal for Merit in Work and the Best Executive Award from UPCT. His involvement in landmark projects such as Terminal 4 at Barajas Airport and the HPP plastics plant for Sabic in Cartagena further reinforce his impact on the industry.
He is currently a member of the Governing Board of COIIRM and IIE, and continues to lead the digital and sustainable transformation of Industry 5.0, establishing himself as a reference in the integration of engineering, technology, and clean energy.

ESG Criteria: Fundamental Pillars of Sustainable Industry
The ESG-INDUSTRY Awards focus on three main criteria:
- Environmental: The impact of companies on the environment is assessed, including energy efficiency, emission reduction, and the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for climate change mitigation.
- Social: Initiatives that improve the quality of life for employees, customers, and communities are rewarded, promoting diversity, inclusion, and labor rights.

The public company Navantia, the companies AMC Global and Idea Design, our CEO & Founder, Emilio Sánchez Escámez, and the president of Repsol, Antonio Brufau, who received an honorary distinction for his career, were congratulated by the regional president in an event that highlighted their impact on the sustainable transformation of the industry.
